The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced a reward of up to $200,000 for information leading to the location, recovery, or identification of former U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist Monica Witt, who is accused of spying for Iran.
Witt, a former counterintelligence officer and Air Force veteran, was charged by U.S. authorities in 2019 for allegedly providing classified national defense information to the Iranian government after defecting from the United States.
Accused of Sharing Classified Intelligence
According to the FBI, Witt previously held a top-secret security clearance during her time serving as a special agent for the U.S. Air Force. Investigators allege that after leaving military service, she traveled to Iran and later assisted Iranian intelligence officials by exposing sensitive information related to American intelligence operations.
