McDonald's has unveiled a new global strategy dubbed "McDonald's > NEXT" as the fast-food giant seeks to drive growth, improve productivity and strengthen its position amid increasing competition.
The company announced the initiative during its Worldwide Convention in Las Vegas, describing it as the next phase of its long-term business transformation. According to CEO Chris Kempczinski, the strategy is designed to make McDonald's the customer's "first choice, every time."
The new plan comes as customer expectations continue to evolve and competition intensifies across the restaurant industry. McDonald's said consumers increasingly expect restaurants to deliver quality, value, convenience and hospitality simultaneously.
Here are the key pillars of McDonald's > NEXT:
- Increase automation and efficiency across restaurants
- Improve food quality, taste and menu innovation
- Enhance hospitality and customer experience
- Expand digital and social media engagement
- Simplify restaurant operations and improve profitability
The company said automation is becoming a larger part of the customer journey, creating fewer opportunities for direct interaction between customers and crew members. As a result, McDonald's plans to place greater emphasis on hospitality to ensure guests feel welcomed and valued.
The strategy also focuses on high-growth categories such as chicken, beef and beverages while continuing to improve restaurant productivity and operational performance.
McDonald's described > NEXT as its roadmap for the company's next era of growth, aiming to attract more customers, increase visit frequency and improve restaurant economics.
The fast-food giant said additional details, including financial targets and implementation plans, will be shared during an investor event scheduled for September.
