Spain will play their first World Cup final since winning it in 2010 after totally making Kylian Mbappé and France look clueless in the semifinals.
Spain started the match on a 36-game unbeaten streak and took the lead when Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal. Mikel Oyarzabal converted from the penalty spot, marking his 5th goal of the tournament.
France suffered a major setback when their main defender, William Saliba, was substituted due to an injury. Their reshaped defense couldn't hold Spain off, conceding again in the second half to a great Pedro Porro finish that extended the lead to 2-0.
France were completely outclassed by the Spanish wall, failing to register a single shot on target until the 81st minute. Kylian Mbappé looked highly frustrated and was booked near the end for a challenge on goalkeeper Unai Simón. France had looked unstoppable so far this tournament, but they weren't even close to putting up a fight. Michael Olise was tightly marked by Marc Cucurella and was subbed off right after the second half started.
Spain will now face either Argentina or England in the final, while France will play the loser of that match for third place.
