Harry Kane has kept England's hopes alive for the World Cup dream, scoring two goals in the final 15 minutes against DR Congo to send his side into the Round of 16.

DR Congo looked great in the first half and took Thomas Tuchel's side by surprise. They grabbed an early lead in the 7th minute through a Brian Cipenga goal, and it truly seemed like England were completely outplayed in the opening 45 minutes.

While England gained momentum in the second half, they initially struggled to beat the Congo keeper, Lionel Mpasi, who made some heroic saves to maintain his team's lead. Credit must go to Thomas Tuchel for making crucial substitutions that changed the dynamic of the match, by bringing on Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon.

Saka made an immediate impact after subbing in, effectively pushing DR Congo deep inside their own half. The equalizer finally came from an Anthony Gordon cross, which was headed in by Harry Kane in the 75th minute. Gordon also provided the assist for the winner, but the moment that stole the highlights was Kane's stunning solo finish into the top right corner to put his team in front.

This incredible match winning performance by Kane helped him surpass the Brazilian legend Pelé on the all time World Cup top scorers chart. England will now face co hosts Mexico in the Round of 16, but they will need to fix the hot headedness that became visible in the first half. That lack of discipline put them under immense pressure, leading to a lot of mistakes, yellow card for Jude Bellingham following a frustrated tackle made by him and almost a second goal from Yoane Wissa, this can be a problem in upcoming knockout matches and they must fix this if they want to keep their World Cup dream alive.
