France comfortably won 3-0 against Sweden to continue their impressive World Cup run.
Kylian Mbappe scored in the 45th minute to put France ahead just before the first half whistle, followed by Bradley Barcola scoring in the 53rd minute shortly after the restart. Mbappe then found the net again in the 74th minute to seal the victory. Ousmane Dembele provided one assist, while Michael Olise provided two assists.
- History made by Mbappe:
The French striker has become the all time leading top scorer in World Cup knockout matches. With 10 goals in the knockout stages alone.
Furthermore, he has matched Lionel Messi's current goal tally for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot race. He is now just one goal away from matching the Argentinian legend's record as the overall top scorer in World Cup history, doing so despite playing in three fewer editions than the GOAT.
It looks like France and Mbappe are truly unstoppable. Up next, they will carry this dominant momentum into the Round of 16, where they are scheduled to face Paraguay.
