In an effort to return the boys to the UK, British officials have filed 42 charges against the social media influencer, including rape and sex trafficking.

The US Marshals Service detained controversial social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan in Miami on Saturday. Following a request for their extradition to face serious criminal accusations, British officials made the arrest.

There are 59 charges against the Tate brothers in the UK: 42 against Andrew, 39 against him, and 17 against his younger brother Tristan. Rape, arranging or supporting trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault, and offenses involving obscene photos of children are among the charges. They are also charged with money laundering and tax evasion by British prosecutors.

The decision to prosecute was made in response to fresh evidence from Bedfordshire Police, according to Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Crown Prosecution Service's Special Crime Division. With the most recent accusations, there are now seven alleged victims in the case. The brothers' extradition from the US has been formally requested by UK prosecutors.

Although the US Marshals Service acknowledged the arrests, they were unable to reveal the precise charges because the arrest warrant was still sealed. TMZ, a US news outlet, released footage of police handcuffing the men and escorting them into cars. Tristan Tate remained silent when a bystander asked if he had anything to say.

Joseph McBride, their lawyer, insists the brothers are innocent. "We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free," McBride stated in a statement.

The Tates, who are dual citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom, have recently relocated to Romania. They are accused separately of money laundering, sexual relations with children, and child trafficking in Romania. Hertfordshire police renewed an investigation into rape and sexual assault claims made by women against Andrew Tate in 2014 and 2015 earlier this year. Additionally, Bedfordshire Police, which serves their hometown of Luton, is looking into separate charges of rape and human trafficking against them.

By endorsing riches, masculine supremacy, and misogynistic beliefs, Andrew Tate has amassed a sizable internet following. On X, he has 10.8 million followers. He has become one of the most well-known and contentious online figures in the world due to his divisive posts. The brothers are well-known for being Trump's supporters. The state of Florida opened a criminal inquiry against them in March 2025, but it's unknown how far along that investigation is.

The arrest is the most recent development in the Tates' protracted legal issues. On similar charges, they were already detained in Romania in 2022. The brothers now face the possibility of going back to Britain to face the allegations against them since the UK is requesting their extradition. Early next week, the Tates are scheduled to appear in a federal court in Miami for the first court procedures pertaining to the extradition request.
